Hi everyone!  I hope that you all had a wonderful, safe and memorable summer.

I'm Mrs. G. :) and it is my honor to be ASJM's school counselor for my 3rd year, and to be a partner in supporting students, parents, faculty, and the Academy of. St. James community.

I graduated in 2021 from Seton Hall University with a master’s in school counseling degree and am grateful to have received the most current knowledge on how to best help today’s students reach their academic and personal successes. It is truly my pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful school community and to meet all of your amazing children.

During my time substitute teaching within the schools and through raising my own two children, now 25 and 22, I have witnessed firsthand the struggles that today’s students are facing. Compelled to help, I went to back to school to achieve my degree and support students in gaining the tools and skills we all need to navigate through the difficult times in life with support and encouragement, and to empower them to know that they have the ability to reach their goals and dreams.

Today's school counselors are not the guidance counselors of prior years, as they support students individually, as well as within the classrooms in their academic, social/emotional and career development. These last few years have been hard for students, parents and faculty combined, and social/emotional support and curriculum are understood to be a critical component for student success. In collaboration with faculty, administration parents and students, I work daily to ensure that ALL STUDENT NEEDS ARE ADVOCATED FOR with empathy, compassion, and respect.
